#WFH? 5 products you want for a home workout

It's a tough situation that we find ourselves in (again). But we need to make sure we keep moving and stay healthy (here in Hong Kong, we are luckier than most).

Gyms are closed, and a lot of us are trying to figure out how to keep fit from home. And although you can get a great workout just using gravity as your exercise buddy, there are a lot of simple yet effective accessories that will assist in making your workouts more fun and effective. For example, adding a resistance band enables you to make use of variable resistance training (hugely effective), which cannot be achieved with body weight exercises.

In previous shutdown periods (and I plan to during this one) I have been attending Iso Fit Virtual classes, which has really helped to keep me motivated and consistent.

The following products are what I currently have and use at home (I like to break this down into categories). It seems like a lot, but they all pretty much fit into a basket in my living room.

I tried to take the above list and squeeze and condense it into 5 simple and affordable products, but I just couldn't do it (even with a little bit of creative listing!). So I cheated and added a 6th item. I should probably change the title of the article......

So my final list (May 2020):

  1. Mat (I am using the 6mm TPE Mat)
  2. Base grip socks (Alternatives - ToeSox, Tavi Noir)
  3. Foam roller. I use the hollow foam roller, which is pretty aggressive.
  4. Acuball and Acuball Mini (Is it cheating to include both of them in one entry?)
  5. Resistance Tube (Set of 3)
  6. Resistance band (Light/Medium/Heavy)

EDIT: After spending a lot more time in 2020 working out outside or at home, I have played around with different workouts, mobility work etc. It has meant that I have tweaked my list - some accessories which didn't make it before have become essential to my daily routine. It is not easy to curate this list!

  5. Resistance Band Loops. Why have these made it on to the list? They have been critical for two reasons. First is they are fantastic for mobility exercises (I have had ankle and hip issues). Secondly, they are great for variable resistance training (Specifically for my pull ups).
  6. Resistance Hip bands. Why have these made it on to the list? As mentioned above, I have had issues with my hips, and they really help with mobility and strengthening the Glute Medius (the rotator cuff of the hip!). We don't currently sell these, but plan to stock them soon!

I love pull-ups so personally I need my pull up bar as well, but I realized that was quite specific to me and I tried to make the list more relevant to a large population. With the above list you can pretty achieve all of your health and fitness goals from the comfort of your own home!

I know, I know, everybody is different......what makes your list? Stay safe and stay healthy!
